Logistics Manager

Frontdoor Talent Solutions is looking for a talented Logistics Manager to join our client in Houston, Texas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination of all outbound logistics to include domestic and international shipments.
Consults with sales and their customers to understand their requirements and support their needs.
Establish as needed and monitor product export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit and delivery.
Resolve problems concerning transportation, imports or exports, or customer issues.
Negotiate and maintain contracts with freight forwarders and all carriers.
Design and implement formal policies for the shipping department to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Manages the daily activities of all shipping functions in a manufacturing environment in an organized and safe manner.
Works closely with other managers and supervisors to ensure coordination of warehouse activities prior to shipment.
Interview and hire new employees as needed.
Identify employees’ skills and develop them by coaching and counseling on a regular basis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years experience working in a Logistics management role.
Must have an understanding of Export documentation, NAFTA rules, and letter of credit.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft office.
Experience with ERP systems, JD Edwards is a benefit.
Strong leadership skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the business.
Previous employment working in/with the freight forwarding industry, transportation providers,
and/or logistics department in a manufacturing facility dealing with international trade a plus.
